What is Microblading
What is Microblading
Microblading is a popular technique in the field of semi-permanent makeup that is used to enhance the appearance of eyebrows. It involves using a sterilized blade and pigment to create hair-like strokes in the brow line to create a natural-looking appearance. However, microblading is not suitable for those with oily skin, as the oil can break down the pigment and cause it to fade faster. Many experienced permanent makeup artists no longer offer microblading to their clients due to its poor retention.
An alternative technique called "nano" or "fluffy" strokes has recently gained popularity. This technique uses a single needle cartridge to create a pixelated, skeleton-like structure of hair rather than cutting the skin with a blade. While it is more difficult to master, it produces a more realistic and natural-looking result and has better retention and faster healing compared to microblading.
In addition to the aesthetic benefits, there are also some potential health risks associated with microblading. For example, if the blade is not properly sterilized or if the pigment is contaminated, there is a risk of infection. There have also been cases where scar tissue has formed as a result of the blade cutting the skin too deeply.
On the other hand, the fluffy stroke technique is generally considered to be safer and more comfortable for the client. It uses a single needle cartridge, which reduces the risk of infection and scarring. Additionally, the pixelated, skeleton-like structure of hair created by the needle cartridge looks more natural and realistic than the solid blocks of pigment used in traditional microblading.
As a permanent makeup artist, it is my responsibility to inform my clients about the different techniques available and help them choose the one that is most suitable for their skin, preferences, and lifestyle. Eyebrows are an important feature of a woman's face, and the right technique can make a significant difference in the overall appearance of the brows. I am planning to receive additional training in fluffy strokes in early 2023 with a reputable artist in Toronto. This will allow me to offer my clients the latest and most advanced techniques in the field of semi-permanent makeup.
